Simply put, the sound of church bells and the sight of the young and old riding around on bicycles are synonymous with villages in Franconia, the area of Bavaria where I live.
When we returned to the U.S. in 2013, I briefly toyed with the idea of buying a CD of church bells to play while we sat on our deck to channel the charm of a tranquil Bavarian town. Instead, in 2017, we opted to return.
Bicycles dominate the roads and paths where we live. Old, young, professionals, adventurers. There’s a bike for everyone, and it’s part of the landscape wherever you go.
This is my invitation to you…let’s have a conversation about what it means to be a foreigner abroad, how it feels to be a woman experiencing the highs and lows of professional or personal life outside your home country, and of traveling. I love hearing your stories.
